Golden Gate is the fifth most-visited city park in the United States, yet it still contains secrets. My bike tour takes you on an e-bike tour of both the highlights and the secrets. My morning ride starts while the park is waking up.  We’ll enter the mist shrouded gates of Golden Gate park near Hippy Hill, drift past the dream-like Conservatory to where our mystery starts at a Druid Circle hidden in a clearing. Around the Concourse to see the Impossible Pirate & an improbable seismic rift, and a stop at the serene Japanese Tea Garden for a before-hours visit. Next an easy e-bike circuit around Stowe Lake as the morning mist rises. Down secret paths to the Anglers Lodge, where we might try some fly-casting, then a visit to the bison paddock & chain of lakes. We reach the Pacific at the Dutch windmill & historic Beach Chalet, with 30’s era murals of park history. From there, we’ll roll home to Cole Valley where there are plenty of lunch options, or head straight for ice-cream at the charming Ice Cream Bar.

About e-bikes: E-bikes can be ridden in “Pedal Assist” mode or in “Scooter” mode. While riding on flats or downhill, the bike works much like a standard bicycle, only giving you a gentle push on the uphill parts of the ride. This allows a rider to get the benefits and convenience of a bike tour, without having to worry about the sweat and strains of San Francisco’s many hills. E-bikes are the perfect choice for San Francisco, as the best views are waiting at the tops of the hills, but dealing with crowds, traffic and parking make a car impractical. E-bikes get you there, and give you the freedom to explore!
